In Florida, a day can include heat, humidity, a trip to the pool, time on the lake, or all of the above. For anyone tired of worrying about makeup surviving it, Svetlana Khashchuk has another option.

During a recent episode of The Chamber, The “Q,” and You on WQBQ, Khashchuk, owner of Beauty By Svetlana in Mount Dora, joined the show to talk about permanent makeup, the confidence her work can give clients, and the personal journey that ultimately brought her business from Washington state to Central Florida.

Permanent Makeup Made for Florida Life

Permanent makeup is exactly what it sounds like: cosmetic pigmentation designed to create the appearance of traditional makeup without washing away.

For Khashchuk, that makes it especially well suited to Florida.

“We’re always out in the sun, swimming, sweating, and you don’t have to worry about it because it’s not going anywhere,” she explained during the interview.

Permanent cosmetics are Khashchuk’s primary specialty, with services including brows, eyeliner, lip color and other techniques designed to enhance a client’s natural features. She also offers microblading, eyelash extensions, facials, brow and lash services, waxing and other esthetic treatments.

Her approach is built around customization rather than giving every client the same look.

When Beauty Becomes Confidence

One of the most meaningful moments of the conversation came when Khashchuk explained that permanent makeup is not always about convenience.

She works with clients across “all ages and stages,” including people who have lost hair or have difficulty naturally growing eyebrows and eyelashes.

Khashchuk recalled working with a teenage girl who could not grow eyebrows. Using permanent makeup, she was able to create natural-looking hair strokes that gave the appearance of brows.

That kind of work can change more than someone’s morning routine.

A Career Built in Beauty

Khashchuk’s path to Mount Dora began thousands of miles away.

Born in Ukraine, she moved to the United States with her family in 1989 at just four years old and grew up in Washington state.

Her interest in beauty started early. After spending about a decade working as a makeup artist, she decided to expand her expertise, becoming a licensed esthetician, certified eyelash extension technician and permanent makeup artist in 2014.

Over the years, that background grew into a business centered on professional beauty services, product quality and individualized care.

Then, on July 4, 2021, Khashchuk, her husband and their four children traded Spokane, Washington, for Central Florida and made Mount Dora home.

Today, Beauty By Svetlana operates from a studio on North Donnelly Street, bringing the experience Khashchuk built over years in the beauty industry to clients here in the Mount Dora area.
