First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora’s Souper Bowl Food Drive Collects 336 Pounds for Local Food Pantries
MOUNT DORA, Fla. — First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora scored a big “touchdown” for the community during its annual Souper Bowl Food Drive, collecting 336 pounds of soup and other non-perishable food items for donation to Lake Cares and Agape in Eustis.
The successful drive marked the largest collection to date and reflects the church’s ongoing commitment to fighting hunger in the Lake County area.
“This church has a generous heart when it comes to giving,” said Elizabeth Long, a member of the church’s Mission Committee. “We organize several collections throughout the year, and this one was added at the suggestion of our pastor, Dr. Brenda Loyal, when she began here in 2023. This year’s response was our biggest yet.”
First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora has supported Lake Cares since the organization’s founding in 2009. Lake Cares focuses on providing essential food assistance while treating individuals and families with dignity, guided by the belief that no family should go hungry.
The church has also contributed to Agape in Eustis for more than 25 years. The organization provides food, clothing, and assistance to residents experiencing hardship and is operated entirely by volunteers.
Through initiatives like the Souper Bowl Food Drive, First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora continues to serve its neighbors and strengthen community partnerships that make a meaningful local impact.
