WVGT Smooth 97.1 Celebrates 8 Years of Broadcasting

July marked the 8th Anniversary for WVGT Smooth 97.1, serving Mount Dora, Tavares, Eustis, Sorrento, Tangerine and beyond.  Our Board Members and volunteers appreciate your commitment to sponsor home town radio in Mount Dora.

Over the 8 years we have grown, changed and become a better radio station.  Your support has allowed equipment upgrades and additional programming. 

This year we replaced our audio board, microphone, audio processor, automation software and added a section to our tower.  These changes have resulted in better quality sound and better broadcast reception.  Lake County is not a rated radio market, however we are registering listeners in the Orlando Nielsen market.  This is likely due to listeners in Tangerine (Stoneybrook, Orange County) and web listeners.  

Our web listeners are growing with Smooth 97.1 on over a dozen phone and tablet apps and websites, including Simple Radio, a super easy to use app that supports Car Play and Android Auto.  Our Alexa audience continues to grow.  It is a very easy way to listen at home. Our long time volunteer, Cool Breeze Jazz host Steve Elkins has been out for several months battling colon cancer.  He would appreciate your positive thoughts and prayers.  It is tough.  Steve has hosted over 200 Cool Breeze shows on Smooth 97.1.
