MOUNT DORA, FL — Historic downtown Mount Dora was filled with foot traffic, families, and four-legged friends on Sunday, April 12, as more than 550 attendees turned out for the Mount Dora Ice Cream Stroll & Pup Walk.
The annual event transformed the downtown district into a self-guided tasting tour, with 25 local businesses serving 25 different ice cream flavors across a two-hour window. Guests checked in at the Mount Dora Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center before heading out to explore shops, restaurants, and participating stops throughout the area.
This year’s event marked an expansion in both scale and offerings, featuring three dedicated ice cream partners: Mystic Ice Cream, Scoops on 5th, and Waffles & Cream. Together, they brought a wide range of flavors—from classics like Cookies & Cream and Pistachio to specialty options such as Kahlúa Fudge Brownie, Cherry Amaretto, and Moose Tracks—giving attendees a diverse tasting experience as they moved through downtown.
Each participating business hosted a different flavor, encouraging attendees to create their own route while discovering local storefronts along the way. Businesses involved included a mix of retail shops, restaurants, service providers, and community organizations, all contributing to a steady flow of visitors throughout the district.
New this year was the addition of the “Pup Walk,” which invited dogs to join in on the event. Powered by DogTuff, a Mount Dora-based pet supply retailer, the expansion included dog treats and pet-friendly touches at select stops. The addition proved popular, with many attendees bringing their pets along for the afternoon.
The event’s impact was visible across downtown, with participating businesses reporting consistent foot traffic and increased engagement during the event window. Sidewalks remained active throughout the afternoon, as attendees moved from stop to stop, contributing to a lively and energetic atmosphere.
Organizers say events like the Ice Cream Stroll are designed to both showcase Mount Dora’s local business community and create accessible, family-friendly experiences that draw residents and visitors into the downtown core.
The Mount Dora Ice Cream Stroll & Pup Walk is scheduled to return this fall on October 11, 2026, with additional details and ticket information to be released in the coming months.
