  • Faith and Science Meet at Mount Dora Lunch & Learn

    Mount Dora, FL — First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora will host a special Chautauqua Chapel Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, March 25 at 12:00 p.m. featuring a presentation titled “God & Astronomy: Spiritual Truths Astronomy Has Taught Me.”

    The program will be presented by Rev. Dr. Maynard Pittendreigh, Parish Associate for Astronomy at First Presbyterian Church. Ordained in 1980, Pittendreigh has served in several pastorates and in youth ministry leadership in South Carolina. A lifelong amateur astronomer, he currently serves as Observing Program Director of the Astronomical League, one of the largest organizations of amateur astronomers in the world.

    In this engaging presentation, Pittendreigh will explore how discoveries about the vast universe—from distant galaxies to the scale of cosmic time—can deepen our understanding of faith and spiritual truth. The program will reflect on how scientific exploration and Christian faith can complement one another in appreciating the wonder of creation.
    Two books will be available for sale SACRED SKIES which goes beyond the seven spiritual truths of the presentation and THE PRESBYTERIAN WELCOMES YOU.  Credit card payments and autographs available.

    The event will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 222 West 6th Avenue in downtown Mount Dora.
