  • Donnelly Street Is Back: Mount Dora Celebrates the Comeback Tour

After months of detours, construction updates, and a whole lot of patience from residents, visitors, and local businesses, Donnelly Street is officially making its comeback.

The City of Mount Dora is celebrating the completion of the Donnelly Street Reconstruction Project with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 21, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the north entrance of Donnelly Street near U.S. Highway 441 and the “Welcome to Mount Dora” golf cart bridge. The roadway is expected to reopen to normal traffic immediately following the ceremony.

For months, Donnelly Street has been more than a construction zone. It has been a daily reminder of how quickly a community’s normal rhythm can change. Drivers rerouted. Businesses adjusted. Residents navigated new traffic patterns. Visitors found their way into town a little differently.

Now, the Chamber is helping turn the reopening into something worth celebrating.

    The Donnelly Street Comeback Tour

To help mark the moment, the Mount Dora Area Chamber of Commerce launched the Donnelly Street Comeback Tour, a community-driven push to bring energy, foot traffic, and attention back to the businesses that make downtown and uptown Mount Dora so special.

The idea is simple: Donnelly Street is back, and all roads lead to Mount Dora.

The Chamber invited local businesses to join the celebration by sharing specials, promotions, menu features, shopping deals, limited-time offers, and reasons to stop by as the community celebrates the road’s reopening.

Want to see who is participating?

The Chamber is encouraging residents and visitors to check the comments on our Donnelly Street Comeback Tour Facebook post, where local businesses are adding their deals, specials, and updates directly. From restaurants and retailers to services, experiences, and downtown stops, the comment thread is the best place to see what businesses are offering in real time.

Whether you are grabbing lunch, planning happy hour, shopping local, booking an appointment, or simply making a point to come back through town, the Comeback Tour is an invitation to spend a little extra time in Mount Dora and support the businesses that kept going through the detour.

Businesses are also encouraged to keep adding their offers to the Chamber’s Facebook post so the community can discover even more ways to celebrate the comeback.

    A Fast Comeback Worth Celebrating

The reopening marks a major milestone for Mount Dora and restores one of the community’s most important entryways. Donnelly Street connects residents, visitors, and businesses to the heart of town, and its return brings both practical relief and a renewed sense of momentum.

It is also a reminder of what makes Mount Dora different. When something disrupts the normal flow of town, the community adjusts, supports one another, and finds a way to come back with energy.

The Comeback Tour is not just about a road reopening. It is about reminding people to return to their favorite stops, discover new ones, and keep showing up for the local businesses that make Mount Dora feel like Mount Dora.

Make It a Mount Dora Day

The Chamber encourages residents, visitors, and local businesses to take part in the Donnelly Street Comeback Tour by visiting participating businesses, checking the Facebook comment thread for current deals, sharing specials, tagging local stops, and helping spread the word that Donnelly Street is open again.

After months of construction, the detour era is coming to a close.

Now it is time to drive in, walk around, shop local, grab a bite, raise a glass, and celebrate the comeback.

Donnelly Street is back. Mount Dora is ready.
