• Rotary Club Presents Scholarships

        The Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle is proud to support the young people of our community.  In February, they sent eight local students to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.  The five days focused on the seven habits of highly effective students, leadership development, building confidence through the challenge course and speech contest, and meeting other students.

        In May, the Rotary Club presented scholarships to ten returning college students and thirteen graduating high school seniors. They include Emily Bradley, Seminole State; Chelsea Chapa, UCF; Shanequa Eberhart, Florida Southern College; Lillian Garback, UNF; Noah Koflowitch, UNF; Emily Leto, FSU; Susana Lozano, UCF; Taylor Paynter, UF; Andrea Paz, USF; and Zakary Stryker, LSSC.

        This summer, the Rotary Club will celebrate their foreign exchange students.  Radovan Vasko will return to Slovakia after a year at Mount Dora High School.  Jackson Mosteller of Mount Dora will come home after studying for a year in Thailand.  Georgia Mosteller of Mount Dora will depart for a year of study in Austria.   
        Rotary’s student programming is supported by their annual Dragonfest in Wooton Park in Tavares.  Next year’s Dragonfest is March 6-7, 2020.  People interested in learning more about Rotary are invited to their weekly lunch on Tuesdays at 12:00 pm at Lake Receptions in Mount Dora.
