Downtown’s Let’s Do Lunch aims to take lunch to a new level, offering something light and fast yet with all the flavors fine dining has to offer. Under the new ownership of Catherine Flury, this New England-inspired restaurant will have you speaking with an accent in no time.

“The original owner has a restaurant in Maine and opened the one here,” Flury said. “He went back to Maine but we wanted to keep this place going.”

Villegas takes over for English as Mount Dora Chamber director

The Mount Dora Area Chamber of Commerce is starting the New Year with one major change – a new president at the helm.

Ray Villegas, a graduate of Philadelphia’s Drexel University, with a degree in accounting and business administration, took over the position last month after former President Rob English left to lead the Mount Dora Community Trust as its new executive director.

Lake County to break ground on $7.8 million no-kill animal shelter

Lake County is about to break ground on a 31,000-square-foot, no-kill animal shelter in Tavares, officials announced Wednesday.

The new facility — projected to cost $7.8 million — is being funded by a voter-approved countywide 1-cent sales tax for road repairs, school improvements and other infrastructure projects.
